John Butler Book Commentary
Freedom, liberty, and rights sound alike and are considered to be the same but they are very
different. Where do these come from? A politician will say, they come from the government.
This is not true! Freedom is a gift from God! He gives this to those who look to Him and serve Him. The Psalmist said, "except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it; except the Lord keep the city, the watchmen are awake in vain."
For every ounce of freedom, there must come with that freedom and equal amount of responsibility to the God that granted it. The next time you hear someone say, "we live in a free country and I am free to do what I want, when I want, as I want, without rhyme, reason, or responsibility;" you are talking to a person whose philosophy of life is shallow and superficial. This philosophy will ultimately DESTROY the liberty they profess.
The Bible say, "stand fast in the liberty wherein Christ hath made us FREE and be not entangled again in a yoke of bondage."
Give this some serious thought,
Yours for Christ and Country,
John Butler Book
